GILBY RESIDENCE

The third alterations and additions to a family house south of Hobart originally designed and built by architect Paul Gilby in 1978. The alterations allow for the ageing in place of the two eldest residents of the house who both have significant physical disabilities.

This round of modifications opens up the ground floor to allow for the free movement of mobility devices, better connecting the original house with an extension made in the 90s. New thermally broken double glazed doors and windows were inserted to further open the side of the house facing the copse of mature blue gums and a view beyond of the River Derwent as it spills out to the Southern Ocean.

Project undertaken with Paul Gilby architect.
